Introduction
Welcome to the ‘Magicka Sorcerer DD Cyrodiil PvP Group Build “Elementalist” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The Elementalist Build is optimized for Organized Group Play of 12 in Cyrodiil.
This build is a 5-1-1 light setup with :
- Willpower
- Snow Treaders
- Vicious Death
- Balorgh
- Perfected Destructive Impact (Master Lightning)
- Perfected Precise Regeneration (Maelstrom Resto)
With the changes to Magicka Nightblade and the removal of minor berserk from Grim Focus in the Elsweyr chapter, Magicka Sorcerer, Warden or Dragonknight have become, imo, the best balanced damage roles for multiple reasons.
Your Streak gives you the best mobility in the game and with the Scalebreaker patch, it also goes through block and hard cc everyone at your destination.
Your Hardened Ward is cheaper than Dampen Magic and gives you more shield strength.
Your sustain is much better with the recovery buff from Dark Conversion compared to Balance. It also does not reduce your shields and healing potential.
Since the Scalebreaker update, Mutagen was changed into Radiating Regeneration which now affect 3 targets for 10 seconds. Power Surge was also changed to affect 6 targets and triggers upon critical healing. Those 2 skills combined together provide one of the best source of healing in the game.
With the Greymoor Chapter, we now make use of the Master Lightning Staff main bar which boosts our spell damage by 704 during any Synergy timing (4 seconds cooldown). Meanwhile, you also have the possibility to proc Concussion which apply Minor Vulnerability (8% more damage taken) to enemies and Minor Mangle (max health decreased by 10%) with Pulsar.
Also note that since the Scalebreaker patch, your chances to apply the Concussion has been increased from 5% to 15%.
You benefit from a strong class execute, Mages’ Wrath, which got it’s AOE damage buffed by 20% in the Elsweyr chapter. You can consider slotting this instead of Pulsar for the Execute if you don’t have any stam DD with Whirling Blades already.
With the Harrowstorm update, Lightning Splash is now much cheaper and can be sustained on a Damage role on top of our Magsorc Supports.
*** IMPORTANT *** : This build requires a Stam Support who provides an uptime of 90%+ on Major Expedition and Minor Expedition with Charging Maneuver.
- Optimized for Organized Group Play of 12 in Cyrodiil
- Lightning Staff and Resto Staff Setup
- Light Armor
- High Shield Strength
- Great Sustain
- Sick Healing
- Great Burst
- Best Mobility
- Great Crowd Control
Resource Management
Artaeum Picked Fish Bowl is the Food we use with this setup. If you don’t have the budget, you can consider using Solitude Salmon-Millet Soup instead. If you have Stamina sustain issues, use TriStats.
The Combustion Synergy from Energy Orb, The Worm’s Raiment buff always active, optimized uptime on Hollowfang Thirst and Symphony of Blades, between 6 to 10 layers of Illustrious Healing with the Perfected Grand Rejuvenation always active, Resto heavy attacks and potions are our major sources of sustain.
Using a Synergy Cooldown tracking addon such as RDK Group Tools helps to make good use of energy orbs.
- Energy Orbs with Harmony
- Maelstrom Resto Staff
- Master Resto Staff
- Dark Conversion
- Breton Passives
- Heavy attacks
- Wormcult
- Potions
PvP Setup
Buffs: Major Resolve, Major Sorcery, Major Prophecy, Minor Prophecy, Major Intellect, Major Fortitude and Weapon Damage Enchantment were active when I took the screenshot.
Gear
We are running a 5-1-1 LA Setup with:
- Willpower
- Snow Treaders
- Vicious Death
- Balorgh
- Perfected Destructive Impact (Master Lightning)
- Perfected Precise Regeneration (Maelstrom Resto)
For Group Play, 5 Impenetrable and 2 Divine traits work best for me on a DD. Make sure to keep your shield up and your hots rolling, especially during a long engagement. Please note that this setup is not min/maxed for Damage but it provides the best balance between mobility, healing, sustain and damage potential.
If you feel good with your mobility and the latency on the server, you can replace the Treaders, 2pc Willpower and The Master Lightning Staff by one of the following sets :
- New Moon Acolyte for the best consistent damage against pugs (low resists) and best healing potential
- Spinner’s Garments for the best consistent damage against guilds (high resists), slightly less healing but considerably better sustain
- Clever Alchemist for the best burst damage but with less healing and less sustain.
Please note that Clever Alchemist got its proc duration increased from 15 to 20 seconds with the Harrowstorm DLC with a slight damage buff.
The reason why I dislike CA is because it promotes players to be greedy about their potion and to keep it for the offensive push when they could use it to save their life.
You could also replace Balorgh by Grothdarr for more consistent damage but less burst potential (not recommended).
Please note that Balorgh got small nerf combined with a major buff with the Greymoor Chapter now providing up to 11500 spell penetration with 500 ultimate spent.

Rotation and Combos
Prebuffing Phase
With a Warden casting Expansive Frost Cloak to apply Major Resolve on the whole group, you don’t need to run Boundless Storm.
Before any engagement, you want to make sure to maintain the following buffs from your abilities:
- Major Sorcery: Power Surge
- Minor Prophecy + Recovery buff: Dark Conversion
- Healing Over Time: Radiating Regeneration
- Minor Force: Race Against Time
Offensive Window
In a magicka group focus, the leader will usually start an engagement by doing a countdown of Proximity Detonation. As you hear the countdown, cast Power Surge and Radiating Regeneration, then cast Proximity Detonation followed by Race Against Time.
Just before going in, cast Destructive Reach and Lightning Flood on the biggest stack of enemies.
If you are fighting a guild group, make sure to cast Hardened Ward before going in as well and reapply it as needed.
Finally, Streak in so you land very close on the other side of the stack but still stun all the targets in your way, then scroll for synergies as you spam Pulsar a few times.
If there is already a magsorc support in your group assigned to lockdowns, don’t worry too much about the timing on Streak.
If you are running Mages’ Wrath, replace Pulsar it in the rotation.
Ultimate Combo
If the leader calls for an Eye of the Storm to be used, cast it just before Streaking in.
If there is no more Negate Magic available in the raid, save for Counter.
Kiting Phase
During the kiting phase, alternate between Dark Conversion and Radiating Regeneration as long as you are not full Magicka.
During heavy pressure, shield yourself and Streak enemies pressuring allies stuck behind. This last part requires a high skill level and is not recommended for new players.
