Inclinations for your Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Neomith Merchant for Pawn Inclinations

Inclinations are significantly impactful to how your pawn will behave and how they will go about using the skills they have equipped.  Placing certain skills with the wrong inclination may have unintended effects and changing inclination may help you get your pawn to perform how you intend.

Inclinations can be purchased from Neomith using RC in Vermund next to the Pawn Riftstone.  You can purchase Art of Metamorphosis to change your Pawn’s inclination more cheaply (500 RC instead of 2000 RC).

Pawn Inclination Prices

  • Simple – Arguably the best default for your pawn.  Your pawn will help out with looting areas which takes the burden off collecting between and after fights.  Great for aggressive melee that aren’t overly defensive but will not climb targets as much as Straightforward.
  • Calm – A great choice for Mage and Sorcerer if they are fragile.  They will prioritize their positioning and survival in fights.  They may cancel skills too often if fights aren’t controlled well though.
  • Kindhearted – Potential niche uses such as wanting an active Springboard Fighter or a Thief spamming Ensnare.  These pawns will carry other downed pawns to you for Revival.  This may be useful to you, but they will usually continuously do this until you Revive and take themselves out of the fight.
  • Straightforward – Useful if you want your pawn to aggressively engage and also climb larger targets.  Climbing targets is good for specific roles, but I primarily only prefer it on a FighterRogue‘s can make good use of this too but may miss out on stealing or using more Skull Splitters.

Specializations for your Best Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Specializations will not impact your pawns in combat use but the roles and functions they can perform outside of combat.  Certain Pawn Specializations may be desired and some are undesirable.  Understanding the specializations will allow you to properly find excellent Pawns that are difficult to replace.

  • Forager – One of the best specializations to have.  Your pawn will help locate and mark necessary upgrade materials on the map for items you are using that can be upgraded.
  • Woodland Wordsmith – Allow you to translate Elvish and always great to have on a long term pawn so you don’t need to swap them in and out.  You can favorite one and swap back and forth as needed when talking to Elves in Sacred Arbor
  • Aphonite – This will limit Pawns from interacting when in the party.  This may be coveted by a lot of players who simply have heard enough from their pawns whenever they see a ladder or pick up any item.
  • Chirurgeon – Possibly could be useful as it allows Pawns to use consumables on the party and the Arisen.  However, they may mismanage or use curatives you don’t want and run through a supply, so be weary of this one in party.
  • Logistician – Logistician can be useful for players that don’t want to manage their inventory or combine materials.  However, they will generally not allow fruit to ripen and make roborants, but instead constantly upgrade to potions.  Some players may avoid or seek them out them for this purpose.
  • Hawker – Initially, Hawker seems great because you can sell items off to your pawn while out in the wild.  Unfortunately, you have no control over what is being sold and he will sell off your elite backpack or those crafting items you’ve been farming.  This should be avoided until some control is allowed for the Arisen.

We hope you enjoyed our Best Pawns and how to find them in Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide.
