Let’s take a look at The First Descendant Best Characters Top 3 list. All of the Descendant Characters can create good The First Descandant Builds and be effective. However, like always there will be some that excel at simply being better than others in certain activities.
In this guide, we will list the overall Top 3 Best Characters in The First Descendant. Additionally, we also have plenty of other guides that focus on different aspects of characters:
- The First Descendant Character Tier List
- The First Descendant Best Boss DPS Characters
- The First Descendant Best Trash Fight AoE DPS Characters
- The First Descendant Best Tank Characters
- The First Descendant Best Support Characters
Of course, depending on who you ask, the rankings can vary. This is my personal list from playing The First Descendant. Generally though, it seems to match up with what other players are saying.
Top 3 The First Descendant Characters
Rank | Character |
---|---|
1 | Gley |
2 | Bunny |
3 | Jayber |
1. Gley Character
The First Descendant Gley is your go-to choice if you want to melt bosses. Her playstyle is high risk high damage. You might think that Gley is squishy because she doesn’t have a shield, but that isn’t true at all. You can build good DEF stats with her if you play with the right modules. Of course, Gley shines the most if you have a tank character that takes aggro, while Gley can focus on maximum DPS output at low HP without much risk of getting killed.
Her Frenzy skill boosts her overall DPS like crazy and on top of that you get infinite ammo with the Increased Sensory skill. This is especially important because heavy ammo is scarce in The First Descendant. But combining Frenzy and infinite ammo together allows you to push out insane damage with heavy weapons like a Sniper Rifle to hit the weak points of enemies. Her AoE damage is also good if you equip the right weapons.
- Maximum Single Target damage
- Melts bosses
- Good AoE Damage
- Frenzy Mode
- Infinite Ammo
- Risky playstyle

Life Siphon | Damages enemies in range while recovering your HP. Grants additional effects depending on Gley’s Frenzy state. | |
Increased Sensory | Applies different effects depending on Gley’s Frenzy state. | |
Massacre | Switches the equipped weapon to Massacre. Enemies hit by Massacre take heavy damage and are afflicted with additional effects, depending on Gley’s Frenzy state. | |
Thirst (Passive) | Gley cannot have Shield or MP. Defeated enemies drop a Life Sphere. Obtaining a Life Sphere restores HP and adds a stack of Power of Life. |
2. Bunny Character
The First Descendant Bunny is a great character overall. Bunny has the best AoE damage in the game. The Lightning Emission skill deals damage and inflicts enemies with electrocute debuff while she is running around with lightning speed thanks to her Light Speeding skill and insatant KOs enemies. She also has high Single-target damage thanks to her laser beam Maximum Power that melts bosses. That means she is generally seen as the best all-rounder DPS character and the most fun to play because of her fast-paced, electric playstyle.
- Nuker
- Maximum AoE Damage
- High Single Target Damage
- Electrocute Debuff
- High Movement Speed

Maximum Power | Shoots out electricity forward to inflict damage. Damage increases in proportion to skill duration. | |
Rabbit Foot (Passive) | Charges electricity by moving around. Landing on the ground after double jump inflicts damage to nearby enemies. |
3. Jayber Character
The First Descendant Jayber is a DPS and Support character. He has access to an Assault Turret and a Medical Turret. Healing is scarce in the game; not only does his Medical Turret heal players, but it also aggro bosses or monsters. The turrets also ignore the enemy’s armor and, therefore, deal significant damage. While the turrets are active you also get a damage boost from your passive Turret Sync. He play well together with Gley, because she uses health to active her skills and Jayber can heal.
That means you don’t want a full Jayber team, obviously, but having a Jayber in your group will make your life so much easier thanks to the extra heals and just the overall damage boost you get.
- Assault and Medical Turret
- Turrets ignore the enemy’s armor
- Great Heals
- Medical Turret can take aggro
- good DEF stats

Multi-Purpose Gun | Changes gun to a Multi-Purpose Gun. If hit by a Multi-Purpose Gun, turret enters an enhanced state. | |
Reactivate | Recalls all summoned turrets and inflicts powerful damage to nearby enemies. After using Total Recall, you enter Overhaul state, where turrets are summoned in their enhanced states. | |
Turret Sync (Passive) | ATK increases when assault turret and medical turret are both summoned. |
To summarize The First Descendant Best Characters, always make sure to have a good group composition for harder content. While Gley is overall the best Boss DPS character, you don’t want to go into a dungeon with 4x Gley. It is crucial to have either a tank or support character in the group as well because Gley is squishy. Therefore, group composition is more important than just looking at each character individually in my opinion.
