In this guide we are going to take a look at all the BG3 Wild Shape forms for the Druid and what you can do with them in Baldur’s Gate 3. Right now Druids can transform into the following beings in Baldur’s Gate 3:
- Level 2 Druid
- Level 4 Unlock
- Dire Raven*: Avoid attention and blind enemies. Reach hard to get to places
- Deep Rothé Cast dancing lights and charge up enemies
- Level 6 Unlock
- Level 8 Unlock
- Sabre-Toothed Tiger*: Take the shape of a sabre-toothed tiger that can Shred Armour and regenerate hit points.
- Level 10 Unlock
- Dilophosaurus: Can do corrosive sput and dissolve armour.
- Earth Myrmidon: Casts Nature-based spells and attacks
- Air Myrmidon: Can debuff enemies and deal Lightning Damage
- Water Myrmidon: Can heal allies and deal Ice Damage
- Fire Myrmidon: Can hasten self and deal Fire Damage
- Story Progression Unlock
- Displacer Beast: Needs Tadpole powers to transform. Whip enemies with tentacles, make a copy of yourself
All the different animal transformations have their own Hit Points, abilities and attacks.
*Only available to Circle of the Moon Druids.
Wild Shape Form – Druid BG3
To unlock the Wild Shape form mechanic for the Druid in Baldur’s Gate 3 you will have to reach level 2. You reach level two almost right after the tutorial area. Once you get to the Ravaged Beach you should hit level 2. Once you are in the level-up window you can pick between the Circle of the Land, Circle of Spores or Circle of the Moon subclass.
Using the Circle of the Moon subclass on the Druid class in Baldur’s Gate 3 will unlock more Wild Shapes as you level up. Initially, this subclass unlocks one additional creature, the bear.
Badger Wild Shape
The Badger transformation has 13 hit points in Baldur’s Gate 3. You have access to Bite, Claws and Burrow skills.
- Bite
- Bite a target.
- Deals 4-10 Piercing damage.
- Claws
- Lash out with deadly claws and possibly push the target back 1.5m.
- Deals 3-6 slashing damage.
- Burrow
- Burrow into the ground and emerge at the target position, possibly knocking nearby creatures Prone.
- 12m range and 3m radius on resurfacing.
Badger Shape Skill Tricks
The Bader Burrow skill is actually an amazing class action in BG3. You can skip locked doors with Burrow. Instead of lockpicking a door you can simply use the Burrow function to get through the door underground. This way you won’t get caught and you can easily steal items without anyone noticing. The only downside is that you are the only character that can do this.
Cat Wild Shape
The Cat transformation has 2 hit points. You have access to Claws and Meow skills.
- Claws
- Lash out with deadly claws.
- 3 Slashing Damage.
- Meow
- Attract the attention of nearby creatures to draw them closer to you.
- 18m range and 18m radius.
Cat Shape Skill Tricks
You can use the Meow skill to attract enemies and lure them into ambushes in Baldur’s Gate 3. The range of the Meow class action is 18 meters, which is very far. Use this to your advantage.
The Cat Wild Shape Druid form in Baldur’s Gate 3 can also easily pass enemies without being detected.
Bear Wild Shape
The Bear transformation has 30 hit points. You have access to Claws and Goading Roar skills.
This transformation is only available to Circle of the Moon Druids.
- Claws
- Lash out with deadly claws.
- 6-12 Slashing Damage
- Goading Roar
- Roar at nearby enemies to goad them into attacking you.
- 9m range and 9m radius.
Bear Shape Skill Tricks
The Bear Wild Shape form has a lot of hit points, 30. Use this form as a tank for your group. You can also taunt enemies with Goading Roar. The Bear is heavy, but you can also jump around with it.
Wolf Wild Shape
The Wolf transformation has 18 hit points. You have access to Bite, Inciting Howl and Exposing Bite skills.
- Bite
- Bite a target.
- 5-15 Piercing Damage
- Inciting Howl
- Gather your pack. Each ally within earshot can move an additional 3m during their next turn.
- 9m range, 9m radius, per battle.
- Exposing Bite
- Nip at a target and distract it. If your attack hits, the next attack against the target from within 1.5m will be a Critical Hit.
- 4-7 Piercing Damage
- Pack Tactics
- Pack Tactics is a passive feature that grants Advantage to attacks when an ally is close to the target.
Wolf Shape Skill Tricks
The Wolf Shape Form for the Druid is best used as an attacker and buffer in Baldur’s Gate 3. You deal high damage and can also guarantee critical damage on the next hit with Exposing Bite. Additionally, you can buff your group with Inciting Howl to move further in the next turn by 3m.
Spider Wild Shape
The Spider transformation has 20 hit points. You have access to Venomous Bite and Web skills.
- Venomous Bite
- Bite a target and possibly Poison it.
- 4-11 Piercing Damage
- Web
- Expel is a thick, flammable webbing that slows creatures within and possibly Enwebs them.
- 18m range, 5m radius
Spider Shape Skill Tricks
The Spider is an excellent Wild Shape form for the Druid when you want to prepare a fight. You can use the Web class action to place webs on the ground. That way it will be harder for enemies to reach you if they are melee.
Dire Raven Wild Shape
The Dire Raven transformation has 13 hit points. You have access to Beak Attack and Rend Vision.
This transformation is only available to Circle of the Moon Druids.
- Beak Attack
- Peck at the target.
- 4-10 Piercing Damage
- Rend Vision
- Attack a creature’s eyes and possibly blind them.
- 3-8 Piercing Damage
Dire Raven Shape Skill Tricks
The Dire Raven is excellent at getting to places where others can’t, because he can fly.
Deep Rothé Wild Shape
The Deep Rothé transformation has 23 hit points. You have access to Gore and Charge skills in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Gore
- Impale a creature.
- 7-16 Piercing Damage
- Deals 11 Force Damage to targets with lesser, medium, or greater Toughness.
- Charge
- Charge forward, attacking all hostile creatures in your way. Possibly knocks targets prone.
- 6-16 Piercing Damage.
Deep Rothé Shape Skill Tricks
The Deep Rothé is great at charging at foes. You can also impale enemies with it.
Panther Wild Shape Druid BG3
The Panther transformation has access to Prowl, Jugular Strike and Pounce.
- Prowl
- Turn Invisible while stalking your prey. While Invisible, your first attack deals an additional 1-8 damage.
- Jugular Strike
- 8-28 Damage
- Lunge at a creature’s throat. if the target is Prone, you deal an additional 4-14 Piercing damage.
- Pounce
- 5-26 Damage
- Leap at a target to bite it and knock it prone.
- Bite
- 7-24 Damage
- Bite a target.
Owlbear Wild Shape
The Owlbear Wild Shape form in Baldur’s Gate 3 has access to Claws, Enrage and Rupture.
- Claws
- 8-27 Damage
- Lash out with deadly claws and push the target back 1.5m
- Enrage
- Give in to the owlbear’s base instincts to increase your Strength by 2 and possibly make nearby creatures Fearful.
- Available only in combat.
- Rupture
- 3-22 Damage
- Rupture the earth, causing debris to tear through nearby objects and creatures.
Sabre-Tooth Tiger
The Sabre-Tooth Tiger has access to Shred Armour and Jugular Strike.
This transformation is only available to Circle of the Moon Druids.
- Shred Armour
- 7-20 Damage
- Rip into a target’s weaknesses, reducing their Armour Class by 1.
- Jugular Strike
- 8-28 Damage
- Lunge at a creature’s throat. if the target is Prone, you deal an additional 4-14 Piercing damage.
- Bite
- 7-24 Damage
- Bite a target.
Dilophosaurus Wild Shape Form BG3
The Dilophosaurus Wild Shape Form has access to Bite, Pounce and Corrosive Spit in Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Pounce
- 7-24 Damage
- Leap at a target to bite it and knock it Prone.
- Corrosive Spit
- 3-24 Damage
- Spray a target with corrosive fluids that slowly melt away its Armour Class.
- Bite
- 7-24 Damage
- Bite a target.
Earth Myrmidon
The Earth Myrmidon is an elemental creature that has access to a selection of spells.
- Burrow
- 2-16 Bludgeoning Damage
- Burrow to a location up to 12 metres away, damaging nearby creatures when you emerge.
- Sludgy Sling
- 2-12 Bludgeoning Damage
- Damage creatures within 3 metres of you and create a mud surface that hinders movement.
- Elemental Warp
- Teleport to a visible location within 18 metres
- Muck to Metal
- Increase your Armour Class by 2, but reduce Movement Speed by 5 metres per turn. Lasts for 4 turns.
Water Myrmidon
The Water Myrmidon is an elemental creature that can heal allies or attack enemies with ice magic.
- Explosive Icicle
- 3-24 Cold Damage
- Creates an ice surface on impact
- Hiemal Strike
- 10-31 Piercing and Cold Damage
- Damage a creature in melee range and Chill it
- Healing Vapours
- Create Healing Vapours for 3 turns
- Creatures within are healed by 5-38 HP.
Air Myrmidon
The Air Myrmidon is an elemental creature that can go invisible, suppress spellcasters and damage enemies with Lightning.
- Invisibility
- Become invisible once per Short Rest
- Ends if you attack, cast a spell, take an action or take damage
- Raging Vortex
- 2-16 Bludgeoning Damage per turn
- Silences creatures in the target area
- Lasts for 10 turns
- Electrified Flail
- 10-33 Lightning and Bludgeoning Damage
- Stuns the target for 2 turns
- Melee only
Fire Myrmidon
The Fire Myrmidon is an elemental creature that can hasten itself and damage enemies with fire spells.
- Myrmidon’s Immolation
- Hasten yourself for 3 turns, granting higher Movement Speed an and an extra Action. Requires Concentration.
- Cinderous Swipe
- 11-31 Fire and Slashing Damage
- Create a cone of fire as you swipe at a foe.
- Scorching Strike
- 10-29 Fire and Slashing Damage
- Melee range. Can set the target Burning for 2 turns.
Displacer Beast
The Displacer Beast isn’t a Druid specific unlock, you do get it eventually by progressing the Story of Baldur’s Gate 3 and by using your Tadpole powers (Eat Special Tadpole). You can duplicate yourself, and whip enemies with your tentacles. This transformation can be accessed by any class.
The Displacer Beast has the following abilities:
- Illusory Copy
- Create an illusory Displacer Beast to attack nearby enemies for 3 turns
- Displace
- Teleport yourself and a target to a nearby location.
- Leaves behind an Illusory copy at your previous location, for 3 turns.
- Deals 2-16 Psychic Damage to the teleported target.
How to transform back into Human form as Druid Creature
You can stay transformed as a Wild Shape creature for a long time. To transform back into human form you simply need to activate the Class Action “Dismiss Wild Shape”. After activating that you will transform back into a human in Baldur’s Gate 3. You’ll also transform back into a human when you reach 0HP, and you will then have whatever HP value you had before you transformed.
