Purchasing the Gold Road Chapter is required to start scribing in ESO. Your character must be at least level 30, or have at least one Champion Point, in order to unlock the Scribing System. Read the full ESO Scribing Guide to learn everything about the Scribing System, the Luminary Wing questlines and where you get all the Scripts. The ESO Scribing system might seem complicated at first, but it will become easier to understand as you delve more into it!

How to start Scribing in ESO
- Level 30 character or have at least one Champion Point.
- Own Gold Road Chapter.
- Activate “Second Era of Scribing” quest from the Scribing collectible in the Upgrades section of the Collections menu or you can locate Adept Irnard Rirnil in Skingrad near the Mages Guild
- Complete “Second Era of Scribing” to access the Scribing Altar.
- Complete Luminary Wings to access Grimoires, and all three types of Scripts.
How to scribe a new skill in ESO
- A skill to customize (Grimoire)
- Three Scripts (Focus, Signature and Affix)
- Luminous Ink (crafting currency)
Scribing does not have it’s own skill line and instead you use the system at the Scribing Altar in The Scholarium. As there is no skill line, you unlock more of the system by completing Luminary Wings which unlock their account-wide Sigils. You will find your Scribed skills and grimoires in the new Scribing tab that is added to your skill assignment window. Summary of the ESO Scribing System
- No separate skill line to level up
- Luminary Wing -questlines will unlock account-wide upgrades.
- Skills and Scripts are character-specific in the ESO Scribing system.
- You are able to deposit scripts into your bank to give them to your other characters.
- Luminous Ink will be consumed for each Script you add or change to your Scribed Skill.
- Scribed skills can be found in it’s respective skill line and the new Scribing tab in your skill assignment window.
- Not all Scripts can be applied to all Grimoires.
- Also, not all Scripts that are compatible with a Grimoire are compatible with each other.
