Welcome to our Throne and Liberty Greatsword and Dagger Build. The Melee Greatsword and Dagger Build is an excellent setup for melee DPS, as it comes with OP critical damage output and all of the crowd control that you could need.
Mainhand: Greatsword
Offhand: Dagger
Note: This build is a work in progress until the launch of the NA/EU servers. The Korean devs are still changing a lot of balancing aspects on the Korean Servers at the moment with every patch.

Greatsword & Dagger Build Setup for Throne and Liberty
In this section, we will explain the important components of the build, such as stats, passives, skills and equipment for our Greatsword Dagger Build in Throne and Liberty.
Weapons Main vs Off-hand
- Main-hand: Greatsword
- Off-hand: Dagger
Our main hand weapon is the Greatsword, our off-hand weapon is the Dagger. Both of these weapons work well with each other, that is why the combo is so strong. Also keep in mind that our off-hand passives stay active even if we are using the Greatsword. Greatsword provides a selection of skills that deal huge damage and come with Crowd Control, while the Dagger mainly supports these abilities by adding poison, a second chance to proc the damage bonus from Guillotine Blade (see below) and improved Crit Chance and Crit Damage.
Stats
The most important stats for the Greatsword and Dagger Build are Strength, which increases your melee weapon damage, HP and Resistances, and Dexterity, which improves your Critical Hit Chance, Movement Speed and Attack Speed.
- 30 Strength
- 30 Dexterity
- 10 Wisdom
- 19 Perception
Your stats will increase even more due to gear also giving different stat bonuses, keep that in mind.
Defense Skill
Each build in Throne and Liberty can slot one defense skill. Because we are using a Greatsword and Daggers we have a choice between two defensive skills:
- Greatsword: Iron Point Parry
- Dagger: Ambush Stance
For our Greatsword Dagger Build we want to select the Iron Point Parry to increase our damage output. This will also boost our overall DPS because of the Skill Damage Boost that we get when defending against a Fury Attack.
Active Skills
Below are explanations of the skills we are using for the Greatsword and Dagger Build. Right now we are using seven Greatsword skills and five Dagger skills. The Greatsword skills are here for maximum damage whereas the Daggers give us a mix of damage and mobility
Skills | Skills |
---|---|
1: Valiant Brawl | 7: Will Breaker |
2: Precision Dash | 8: Shadow Strike |
3: Stunning Blow | 9: Inject Venom |
4: Death Blow | 10: Ankle Strike |
5: Gaia Crash | 11: Camouflage Cloak |
6: Ascension Slash | 12: Predatory Strike |
Greatsword Skills
- Valiant Brawl – Attack 3 times. If there are other enemies in the skill’s range, the attacks are spread out between different enemies, and the final attack will hit your target. If the attacks are spread out, the final attack deals extra damage.
- Precision Dash – Charge at the target, dealing damage.
- Stunning Blow – Deal damage, with a very high chance of stunning them for a bit.
- Death Blow – Deals damage. Damage is increased by 30% against Stunned, Bound or Sleeping targets.
- Gaia Crash – Deals AOE damage in the targeted direction.
- Ascension Slash – Deals high damage. Has a high chance of inflicting Prone when used on Stunned, Bound or Sleeping targets. Prone lasts for a short duration.
- Will Breaker – Deals 100% of Base Damage to all enemies in a small radius semicircle to the designated direction, and decreases their Melee, Ranged, and Magic Defense.
Dagger Skills
- Shadow Strike – Move behind a target and deal damage.
- Inject Venom – Adds Weaken: Poison to all attacks for a few seconds. The poison lasts for a few seconds, deals damage over time, stops health regeneration and can be stacked.
- Ankle Strike – Deals high damage. Has a high chance of inflicting Prone when used on Stunned, Bound or Sleeping targets. Prone lasts for 3 seconds. This skill is basically a dagger version of Ascension Slash.
- Camouflage Cloak – You are hidden for a few seconds and cannot be targeted. Your first Melee, Ranged or Magic Attack while hidden is guaranteed to be a Heavy Attack. Attacking or morphing removes invisibility.
- Predatory Strike – Deals 490% of Damage + 80 damage, and then additional 40% of Damage consecutively. The damage is increased by 9% for targets under the effect of your Burning, Curse, or Poison Damage over Time.
Passive Skills
Below you can find an explanation of the passive skills for our setup.
Greatsword Passives
- Cold Warrior – Increased Critical Chance against Stunned enemies.
- Victor’s Morale – Dealing damage with skills restores 19 Mana. Does not apply to damage over time.
- Raging Frenzy – You gain 70 bonus skill damage when there are 3 or more enemies within a 5 metre radius.
- Barbarian’s Dash – Improve Movement Speed by 22% for 3 seconds after a Mobility Skill is used.
- Vital Force – Melee, Ranged, Magic Hit increases by 2.02, Stun Chance increases by 0.425, and Skill Damage Boost increases by 0.25 per 100 of current Health.
Dagger Passives
- Assassin’s Instincts – Increases your Melee, Ranged and Magic Critical Hit Chance.
- Vicious Fangs – Increases your Melee, Ranged and Magic Critical Hit Chance when attacking a target inflicted by your Poison.
- Wrathful Edge – Increases your Critical Hit Damage by 21%.
Skills and Passives Upgrade Priority
Upgrading Skills and Passives in the right order will make combat a lot easier in Throne and Liberty. However, it also takes quite a long because you need so-called “Growth Stones” to upgrade and the higher quality ones are difficult to get. Therefore it is important to plan ahead which skills you want to upgrade first.
Note: You unlock higher level skills already in a higher quality such as Rare or Epic. So you won’t have to upgrade all of the Skills.

Weapon Mastery for the Greatsword Dagger Build
While you are playing with a weapon type you also gain points in Weapon Mastery for our build. This allows you to get additional perks that increase your characters power in Throne and Liberty. This automatically progresses slowly while you are playing with the Greatsword.
For our Throne and Liberty Greatsword Dagger Build we are going to focus on the Face Off section of the Greatsword Weapon Mastery Tree.
- Melee Hit
- Base Damage
- Rough and Wild (Damage Bonus increase)
- Melee Critical Hit
- Mana Cost Efficiency
- Fierce Attack (Attack Speed increase)
- Skill Damage Boost
- Melee Hit
- Fierce Glare (Melee Heavy Attack Chance increase)
For the Dagger Weapon Mastery tree we are going to use the Assassination section.
Equipment Armour and Jewelry
When you are leveling up this build don’t worry too much about gear. The gear itself only becomes important after level 50. Therefore make sure to simply equip whatever you find and focus on leveling up your skills. Make sure to read our Throne and Liberty Equipment Guide to understand the basics of how gear works. Additionally, we also recommend reading the Throne and Liberty Gear Enchanting Guide to get an understanding of how you can improve your gear and why it is important.
Important: Getting the correct traits for each item piece is very time-consuming, even if you don’t have the perfect traits the build will still perfectly work.
The Magnaduke’s Berserk Blade also has a passive skill called Magna Duke’s Berserk that increases Melee Heavy Attack for a few seconds after stunning or shocking someone with Stunning Blow.
Type | Item | Optimal Traits |
---|---|---|
Main-hand Greatsword | Magnaduke’s Berserk Blade | Melee Heavy Attack Chance, Melee Critical Hit, Melee Hit |
Off-hand Daggers | Brutal Slaughter Dagger | Melee Heavy Attack Chance, Attack Speed, Melee Critical Hit |
The Magnaduke’s Berserk Blade drops from the Paola’s Dimension Chest. You get that chest from the Group Dungeons that can be accessed here on the Throne and Liberty Map. The Brutal Slaughter Dagger drops from the Roaring Temple, Cave of Desperation and Cursed Wasteland Dungeons. They can also be accessed at the same location as the Berserk Blade above.
With our setup we are going to use two different sets. We are using two pieces of the Imperator Set and two pieces of the Death Set. That way we can use the most beneficial stat increases for our melee build.
- Imperator Set
- 2 Items: Melee Heavy Attack Chance +150
- Death Set

How to Play the Greatsword and Dagger Build in TL
Now that we have explained how to create the Greatsword Dagger build, we will cover the best ways to play the build to get the best out of it, including combos and general tips.
Greatsword Dagger Build Combos
While you can play the Greatsword Dagger build on a casual level by just using random skills or spamming the same skill over and over again, the more skilled player will make the most of their skills and passives, many of which can be used in a certain order to buff the final damage output of each skill – these are known as combos.
Below are the most important combos for this Build, along with a summary of how/why they work.
- Stunning Blow -> Death Blow
- The simplest combo available with this build, stunning your enemy will result in a 30% damage bonus from Death Blow. This is the least powerful combo, but it’s good to use when you are at low level or cannot do a more complicated combo for another reason (cooldowns, time pressure, etc)
- Inject Venom -> Stunning Blow -> Death Blow
- A slightly more complicated version of the previous combo. This one is better thanks to the Vicious Fangs passive, which improves your Critical Chance against Poisoned enemies.
Greatsword Dagger Tips & Tricks
- Don’t focus too much on gear early on. Gear farming only becomes important after you hit max level.
- Get equipment that gives you extra Max Health or Strength stats at the beginning.
- Always keep track of your cooldowns, especially on the high cooldown Skills.
