Introduction

Welcome to the Stamina Dragonknight Build PvE “Venom” for Elder Scrolls Online Horns of the Reach. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The “Venom” build is made for PvE Trials, Dungeons and Maelstrom Arena. There will be different sections, with small adjustments so you can use the build both in a group or solo.

Stamina Dragonknights have one of the highest single target dps setups, due to their class specific damage over time effects like Venomous Claw. On top of that we have one of the best AoE damage and sustained setups with this specific playstyle. Dualwield & Bow setups both offer great single target damage and area of effect damage, plus good damage mitigation through skills like Deadly Cloak. To maximize damage, we are running a heavy attack build with Dualwield being our mainbar. This means we basically do a heavy attack between each DoT that we apply. Each heavy attack also returns a lot of stamina, as we have a lot of points in the CP Perk Tenacity which increases resource returns from heavy attacks, plus passives like Battle Roar and Helping hands also help us sustain! Also, Dual Wield Heavy Attacks are twice as fast as other weapon types which menas the rotation is quite fast paced.

  • Medium armor
  • Dualwield & Bow setup
  • Highest single target (ST) damage
  • High area of effect (AoE) damage
  • Heavy Attack rotation
  • Unlimited sustain
  • Maximum damage
  • Trials, Dungeon & Maelstrom

Resource Management

The only really important tool to get good sustain is Heavy Attacks for this build. They restore quite a huge amount of stamina. It also helps if you are a Redguard as they are still the best race in terms of overall sustain! If you think you still struggle then I recommend using either a Cost Reduction or Recovery Glyph, in this case a Cost Reduction Glyph will be better as we have pretty overall low Stamina Recovery.

  • Heavy Attacks resource return
  • Reducest Cost/ Recovery Glyph
  • Redguard (Best for sustained setup)

Gear

Gear Setup 1

  • Twice Fanged vs Spriggan: In case you do not have access to Twice Fanged Serpent set, you could also run Spriggan, all the armor and weapon pieces can be bought via Guildstore, so it is easier to get, especially the weapons!
  • What pieces? It does not matter how you allocate the pieces, as long as you manage to get 5x Twice Fanged Serpent, 5x Vicious Serpent, 2x Mephala or Velidreth with a Maelstrom Bow on the backbar.
  • Infused Weapon? With the new CP we can get quite a lot Penetration through Piercing with only a few points and make up for it on the Weapon. This boosts the Weapon Damage enchantment by a lot and reduces the cooldown of it, its worth it! Also it reduces the chance of overpenetrating the target.
  • Vicious ophidian? If you want better sustain, you could use Vicious Serpent set.
  • Briarheart vs Hundings? Briarheart might actually be slightly stronger then Hundings Rage if you are using those sets on Weapon pieces. Very small difference tho so Hundings Rage is definitely easier accessible due to it being craftable.
  • Maelstrom Bow what trait? I found that Infused performed best, but the difference between Infused, Precise or Nirnhoned is less then 1-2%, so use what you have.
  • Mephala vs Velidreth: The damage numbers are very similar, I am prefering Mephala currently because it is a 10 second AoE DoT.

Gear alt

  • Not enough sustain? In case you do think you lack sustain, make sure to use 1x Glyph of reduced skillcost on your jewelry. That should be enough to gain enough sustain.
  • Damage? This setup gets very close to the damage of the Best in Slot setup. The only thing is that you will not boost your group members dps.

Gear beginner

This setup is dedicated to people that have not had the chance to farm the necessary gear for the maximum damage potential of the Venom build. All the gear here is either craftable or cheap to get in a guildstore. Make sure to ask a friend to craft Hunding’s Rage and Night Mother’s Gaze. Agility jewelry can be obtained in the Guildstores. I do recommend having around 18k health (with buff-food). You can buy cheap Agility jewelry with healthy trait to reach this value.

  • Why a Heavy Chest? This will give you some extra protection, so you will take less damage and when you already have undaunted passive, then you will also gain slightly more health.

Skills

  • Why Blood Craze over Rending Slashes: The heal over time effect from this ability is nice, and with Morrowind you want to gain some extra survivability with stamina builds. If you think you do not need the extra healing, then go with Rending Slashes.

Rotation & Skeleton Parse

Stamina DKs have a pretty straight forward rotation. On the frontbar we do Heavy Attacks and on the backbar we use Light Attacks. Start off with Activating Abilities like Deadly Cloak, Flames of Oblivion and Molten Armaments prefight.

Rearming Trap > Light Attack > Endless Hail > Light Attack > Poison Injection > Light Attack > Razor Caltrops > Weapon Swap

Heavy Attack > Noxious Breath > Heavy Attack > Venomous Claw > Heavy Attack > Rending Slashes > Heavy Attack Deadly Cloak > Weapon Swap > restart rotation

When Flames of Oblivion is about to run out, I do Flames of Oblivion > Light Attack > Skill……… instead of a Heavy Attack.

Maelstrom Arena

We have to adjust some things to be able to successfully complete veteran Maelstrom Arena. I highly recommend farming Vicious Serpent as it gives the best sustain in Maelstrom arena. I also recommend being at least 500+ CP, if you are lower it will get pretty difficult for stamina setups.

Skills

Why Corrosive Armor over Standard? Our main damage ultimate is Dawnbreaker, it is pretty cheap and it refills quickly so we can use it a lot. In difficult situations where we have a lot of incoming damage, you can use Corrosive armor as a “Panic Ultimate” which basically makes you damage immune for like 10seconds.

Buff-Food

Longfin pasty with Melon Sauce (Max Health+Max Stamina+Max Magicka)

We need the tristat food to get some more max magicka, as this is important so we can use Igneous Shield more often!
