Introduction

Welcome to the Magicka Warden Build “Ice & Fire” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The Ice & Fire build is created for Trials, Dungeons & Maelstrom Arena. It features the new Warden Class and it will take some time to figure out the best possible setups for this class.

Warden focus on pets and frost abilities. Both ranged and melee playstyle are very viable and can deal a lot of damage. Unlike Sorcerers, most of their “pets” are abilities and do not require to be double slotted, which is a huge advantage! Only the Bear Ultimate and the Belly Netch count towards “summonable pets”.We are using the Necropotence set which will give us an insane magicka pool, together with the Sleet Storm Ultimate that gives us an extra 8% extra Magicka! It might take a while to get used to the Warden class, as it is a new class and we need to get used to the new skills first!

  • Warden Class
  • Double Destruction staff setup
  • High Magicka resource pool
  • Good AoE damage
  • Good Single Target damage
  • Good sustain
  • Ice & Fire skill setup

Resource Management

The Blue Netch helps quite a lot already with sustain, so thats the first thing you need to remember to keep up. I also found a 7 Light Armor setup to be the best, so we gain a bit more cost reduction, but still have good resources. Make sure to put at least 6 Points into Health Attribute, you need at least around 17,2k Health. Another must have for this patch is the “Drain Magicka Poisons”, they help tremendously with sustain. In the Important Info section you will see how to craft them. They give you about 240 Magicka per second over 5,5 seconds, thats insane! Now the last big thing that you can choose on your own to tweak your sustain, Magicka Recovery Glyphs. I felt I reached good sustain with 1 Recovery Glyphs. However, if you think your sustain is still not where you would like it to be, then try with  two Magicka Recovery Glyphs and then you should definitely be good to go. Heavy Attacks are also a great tool to restore resources, while we not really need them for this build, if you really get into a situation where you dry out, use one or two heavy attacks!

  • Blue Betty
  • Drain Magicka Poisons
  • Magicka Recovery Glyph
  • Heavy Attacks
  • Witchmothers Brew

Magicka Recovery Glyph vs Cost Reduction Glyph. I myself prefer recovery over Cost Reduction. However, usually when I have below 900 Magicka Recovery then I am going to use a Cost Reduction Glyph, but if I get over that I will use a Recovery Glyph. You can both give a try and see what fits best for you!

Gear

Gear Best In Slot

  • No Moondancer/Maelstrom Staff? Those Two Staves are very difficult to get. You could get two Necropotence Staves, if you do not have a Moondancer staff. Or use a random sharpened staff.
  • Why a Shock Staff? Heavy Shock Staffs do a ton of damage and it also helps a lot with restoring Magicka. Dealing damage and restoring Magicka? Hell yes!
  • Health: Make sure to have around 17,2k Health, you might need to invest like 6 points into the Health Attribute to reach this!
  • Why no Monster Set? I found that 5 Piece Moondancer seemed to be more promising, especially sustain wise!

Gear beginner

This setup is dedicated to people that have not had the chance to farm the necessary gear for the maximum damage potential for this Magicka Warden build. Julianos is craftable and Necropotence can be farmed in Rivenspire. In case you do not have time to farm Necropotence you could also use Twice Born Star! Make sure to ask a friend to craft Julianos gear for you. I do recommend that you are aiming for 17k health. To achieve this you can buy one or two Willpower rings with a healthy trait.

Where can I get the gear?

Necropotence: Rivenspire
Moondancer: Maw of Lorkhaj
Grothdarr: Vaults of Madness
Julianos
: Craftable
Willpower: Imperial City Vaults, Guildstore
Twice Born Star: Craftable
Maelstrom Staff: vMaelstrom Arena

Skills

  • Blue Belly Netch Pet only on 1 bar? This pet only needs to be slotted on one bar, and Necropotence will still stay active!
  • Why Sleet Storm Ultimate on front bar? This ultimate gives us an extra 8% Max Magicka, which is huge on top of the 7% from Inner Light!
  • Why this setup? Basically, we have all our DoTs on our backbar, so we swap there every 8 seconds and reapply all the DoTs and then go back to our frontbar

Skills

There is only a few changes necessary, make sure to use Elemental Drain as it helps a lot of sustain and keep Harness Magicka up all the time so you do not get any damage to your health! Bursting Vines heal is only hear for a panic heal, if you do not drop your shield a lot then the Lotus Blossum should be enough.Skills
