Magicka Templar Maelstrom Beginner Build Elder Scrolls Online ESO

Magicka Templar Maelstrom

Magicka Templar Maelstrom Arena Beginner Build

Here I am going to explain the setup you want to run with when you are going to attempt veteran Maelstrom Arena the first time. I highly do recommend reading the Introduction page for veteran Maelstrom Arena where I rank the difficulty of each class! The Build is adjusted for 300 Championpoints. Further below you will also find a 600 Championpoints setup.

Magicka Templars are one of the more difficult setups to complete Maelstrom Arena with. Mainly because we have to be in melee fight range due to Puncturing Sweep which deals good damage & heals us at the same time. Damage output is medicore compared to Magicka Sorcerer. In terms of sustain, make sure to have Channeled Focus on the ground at all times, otherwise your Magicka pool will disappear quite fast!

Why this particular gear setup? [Seducer, Julianos & Willpower]

This particular combo will give you good sustain and good damage. In case you do have a monster set, use it, like I show down below. However, I do not expect that all people with 300 Championpoints have Monster Sets, that is why I have chosen a base setup without a monster set. You can use Spelldamage glyphs on your jewelry, this will give you a fair amount of spelldamage in the end together with Willpower jewelry.

Character Sheet

On this character I do have Undaunted passives which give me 6% more Health, Magicka & Stamina. The Gear is purple, Weapon gold quality. I highly recommend using a gold quality Weapon, it will give you way more damage compared to a purple one. This setup here is without any monster set!

Full Run with the Base Gear Setup [300 CP]

Gear [Seducer, Julianos & Willpower]

This gearsetup is very easy to get. Seducer and Julianos are both craftable. Willpower arcane jewelry can be purchased in the Guildstore, it does not cost a lot.

Why Heavy Chest? The Chestpiece gives the most resistances. That is why it is important to use a heavy chest piece.
Why 5 Light, 1 Heavy, 1 Medium? If you do have undaunted passives, you will gain an extra 6% overall resources, which is very important.

Gear [Monster Set, Seducer, Willpower and Julianos]

Why Valkyn? With 300 Championpoints you have lower resources compared to 600 Championpoints. Which means your health will be lower with the same setup vs a 600 CP Player. That is why I recommend running Valkyn Skoria, it hits hard and gives you the health bonus you need, to get to a decent health level! If you think you do not need the extra health, you can also use Grothdarr or Ilambris.

Random Staff? With this setup you are left with a random staff. Which is not tremendously bad. If you do have a Master Staff from Dragonstar Arena, you can use it. Otherwise keep the random staff.

Shock Staff Mainbar? Most Skills that a Magicka Templar uses are based off AoE damage, that is why we want to use a Shock Staff instead of a Fire staff on the front bar due to the Ancient Knowledge passive!

Skills

Magicka Templar Maelstrom

Why Structured Entropy? As we are using normal Magicka Potions, it is our only way to get Major Sorcerery to get the 20% Spelldamage buff. If you do run Spellpower Potions you can replace Structured Entropy with Inner Light to gain some extra Magicka!

Reflective Light: Very good AoE Damage over Time effect, also provides us the Spell Crit buff!

Radiant Glory vs Radiant Oppression: Radiant Glory morph is prefered, as it gives us a healing while we deal execute damage.

Channeled Focus: This skill has to be on the ground at all times, it is one of the most important resource management tools for Magicka Templar as it gives us Magicka back.

Harness Magicka: The Shield needs to be up at all times, so make sure to reapply it as soon as it drops off!

Radiant Destruction > Radiant Glory
Sun Fire > Reflective Light
Puncturing Strikes > Puncturing Sweeps
Annulment > Harness Magicka
Entropy > Structured Entropy
Elemental Storm > Elemental Rage
Wall of Elements > Elemental Blockade
Runes Focus > Channeled Focus
Weakness to Elements > Elemental Drain
Spear Shards > Blazing Spear
Cleansing Ritual > Ritual of Retribution
