Introduction

Welcome to the Magicka Dragonknight Build PvE “Valakas” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO. The “Valakas” build is made for PvE Trials, Dungeons & Maelstrom Arena.

Magicka Dragonknights unleash their maximum damage potential in melee range. They both have really strong Single Target and AoE damage output. Due to being melee we also get more incoming damage as ranged setups, but this is not that big of a deal because we have a shield at our disposal which makes survival a lot easier. Magicka DKs still suffer kind of the same problem as Magicka Templars, they have to be in melee range to pull off maximum damage but can not compete with Stamina currenty. Keep that in mind!

Changes from the previous version

I added and updated the CPs. Updated the Passive section. I added Zaan to the setup, if you use Zaan make sure to use 1 Health Glyph to make up for the lost Health. We also use Molten Whip now because of the off balance changes. In addition, we are running a double fire staff setup again (Still can use a Shockstaff for AoE trash) and we use Witchmothers Brew Drink to make up for the loss of Power Lash.

Resource Management

We are using Witchmothers Bre Drink, it gives us a lot of Magicka Recovery, Max Magicka and Max Health. I use 1 Health Glyph on Burning Spellweave, otherwise we have a bit too low HP. Heavy Attacks are also a great tool to restore resources, so if you drop low mage sure to use Heavy Attacks.

Skills

  • Standard vs Destro Ultimate: Basically, in fights where there are a lot of mobs present, I prefer using Destro Ultimate because it allows us to have way more burst damage over Standard. This is a personal preference, if you prefer Standard, use it.
  • Molten Armaments: If you do not want to use Spellpower Potions because they are expensive, then you can use Molten Armaments.

I highly recommend being a Vampire for the extra 10% Magicka and Stamina recovery!

Rotation

With this rotation, we are going to have to weapon swap every 8 seconds, due to Blockade of Fire being on the back bar. This is neccessary because of the Maelstrom Staff that we use on the backbar.

Activate Flames of Oblivion before you engage in the fight. The Rotation is slightly simplified as we reapply Engulfing Flames and Burning Embers about 2 seconds before they run out. If you want you can also just roll with the DoT Trackers and reapply the DoTs when they run out.

Skills

  • Not a lot changes here, we are using Crushing Shock because now we can stay ranged as long as possible and interrupt ranged targets! Elemental Drain is also here to debuff the enemies and give us better sustain.
  • You also might want to use Witchmothers Brew Drink for better sustain. Make sure to adjust your health then.
