Stamina Dragonknight Tank Build “Catalyst”

Introduction

Welcome to the Stamina Dragonknight Tank Build “Catalyst” for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the build for each new Update of ESO.

The Catalyst build is optimized for Dungeons & Trials as a maintank. Keep in mind there is a huge variety of differnt tank builds out there that synergize well depending on your group setup. The Catalyst build is used by our tanks in Hodor. Remember, each Trial or dungeons needs some small adjustments to the build. So if you for example feel that you need more health, then go for it! I also do recommend checking out Woeler´s Website, which has a ton of information about tanking for both Trials/ Dungeons!

Woeler´s Website about Tanking

General Information

The Catalyst is a tank build that focuses heavily on supporting your groupmembers. We are using Ebon Armory & Roar of Alkosh. Ebon Armory is a must have for every Dungeon & Trial. It gives all your group members 1118 extra Health. The extra Health can be very valuable because most players will reach around 18-19k Health with Ebon Armory, which is the recommended standard for Dungeons and Trials. Roar of Alkosh on the other hand is here to debuff the enemy, meaning our Damage Dealers will do more damage and thus the enemies will die faster. However, it requires you to constantly use Synergies, which is good because it also returns resources.

  • Tank/Support Build
  • Heavy Armor
  • Alkosh & Ebon Armory
  • Great sustain
  • Easy survivability
  • Great self healing
  • Good shielding

Those Character stats are unbuffed.

Resource Management

Dragonknights are the most common tanking setup because they have the best resource management & support abilities. In terms of resource management you do have Battle Roar passive which gives you back insane amounts of resources every time you activate an ultimate. Helping Hands passive restores 5% of your stamina everytime you use a Earthen Heart ability. Those two passives make the Dragonknight extremely strong, it is basically the mainreason why you almost only see Dragonknight tanks! On top of that you do have the Constitution passive from heavy armor, which returns Magicka & Stamina every 4 seconds.

Igneous Shield ability: Igneous Shield ability has two functions. It gives you back Stamina through the Helping Hands passive, and it shields your groupmembers. Shielding your groupmembers is very important, because that means they will die less!

What Monster set should you wear?

As a tank you have quite a few good choices in terms of Monster Set. Bloodspawn is the one being used the most because it gives you higher resistances and faster ultimate regeneration, which synergies well with the Battle Roar passive! The Lord Warden set is also a good choice, especially for enemies that hit really hard. It boosts the resistances of your group members. However, be aware that your groupmembers need to stand in the circle to benefit from the buff. Malubeth can also be useful in tough situations where you need extra healing. Sentinel of Rkugamz can also be a very decent choice because it supports with extra stamina and health.

  • Sentinel of Rkugamz
  • Lord Warden
  • Scourge Harvester

Enchantments for your Weapons

There is basically two enchantments that tanks are mostly using. Glyph of Crushing and Glyph of Weakening enchantment. The Crusher enchantment reduces the enemies Armor and Spell resistance, which is very important. Weakening enchantment is here to reduce the incoming damage of enemies. That is also the reason why we are using Infused on one of our weapons, because it makes one of the enchantments even stronger, preferably the Crusher enchantment!

Nirnhoned vs Reinforced on your Shields

Nirnhoned Shield will result in higher resistances. That is because in the Lady Tree the 30 Points Perk “Shield Expert” gives you “Increases the Armor of equipped Shields by 75%. The difference is minor tho.

Gear [Best in Slot]

I do not have Alkosh weapon & shield?! You can go with Ebon weapon & Shield if this is easier to farm for you. However, do not forget because you have to wear 2 medium pieces Alkosh on your body parts. Which means you have to go 5 Heavy, 2 Medium.

Skills

Dragonknight Tank

Why Heroic Slash? This skill helps us gain ultimate faster, like explained before the faster we gain ultimate, the faster we regain resources through Battle Roar passive!

Why Echoing Vigor? This morph has a bigger range, sometimes your groupmembers are further away and the other morph will not hit them, this morph ensures that they will get the healing!

Why Aggressive Warhorn? This is the strongest Support Ultmate in the game. it boosts your resources and your damage!

Why Magma Armor and not Corrosive Armor? Magma Armor puts a huge shield on 6 friendly players, which can save lives!

Why Absorb Magic? This skill reduced the block cost and when you activate it it also heals you for a good amount when you get hit by a spell!
