Welcome to the Cyrodiil Group Play Guide for Elder Scrolls Online. Make sure to bookmark the link as I will keep updating the guide for each new Update of ESO. The guide is optimized for Organized Group Play of 12-16 in Cyrodiil.
This guide provides guidance for players looking to challenge themselves and create their own fights away from their faction zerg and the transit line.
Take note that even if this guide focuses mainly on magicka users, you can also make your own fights with a raid composed mainly of stamina necromancers and wardens damage dealers. This being said, you will still need magicka healers. Finally, several points in this guide are still extremely valuable for both playstyles.
The roles inside a 12-16men group can be devided between 3 different categories. As a result, it allows you to focus mainly on specific stats that will make your role as efficient as possible.
This being said and because of several flaws in the overall balance of the game, it is possible and encouraged in certain situations to mix roles together.
For example, it is highly encouraged this patch to have Radiating Regeneration used by every single role since spell damage increase both damage and healing potential and new sets like New Moon Acolyte gives a big boost to your spell damage.
With 12 to 16players, you usually want between 4 and 5 DDs and aim to fight either a guild group of the same size or a faction zerg composed of much more people. In any of these scenarios, your damage dealers should be classes with built in aoe damage. Both Magicka and Stamina offer multiple class options to fight outnumbered. There are a few Damage Specs that aren’t optimal for Large Group Play and that for two reasons.
They either lack aoes built into their class or their synergies are too expensive and better suited for a Support role. The Damage Specs we want to avoid are the following :
- Magicka Templar
- Magicka Dragonknight
- Stamina Templar
- Stamina Dragonknight
- Stamina Sorcerer
- Stamina Nightblade
The roles that are the most efficient at dealing damage are the following :
- Sorcerer : The class has a built in execute, Mages' Wrath, that provides much more damage compared to Wall of Elements, Unstable Wall of Elements or Soul Splitting Trap if you look at numbers on Combat Metrics at the end of a long fight.
The class can also relies on a built in sustain skill, Dark Conversion, which allows you to increase your healing potential and the shield strength of your Hardened Ward drastically by avoiding the use of Spell Symmetry.
Also, you have access to a built in gap closer, Streak which hard stuns enemies throught block and offers you the highest mobility in the game.
Finally, Power Surge got changed into an AOE heal and will proc off crit heals from Radiating Regeneration. This is just a brief introduction of the power this spec has to offer and make it in my opinion the most balanced overall for this role.
